Low Power Radio FCC Filings Return to Program Main Page Comments Technical Filing (Reply Comments) Petition for Reconsideration Opposition to Petitions for Reconsideration Brief Filed in U.S. Court of Appeals The following FCC filings are available for download in Portable Document Format (PDF). On August 2, 1999, Media Access Project filed comments at the Federal Communications Commission in support of low power radio on behalf of: the United Church of Christ, Office of Communication, Inc.; National Council of the Churches of Christ, Communication Commission; General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church; Department for Communication of the Egangelical Lutheran Church in America; Civil Rights Forum; Libraries for the Future; and Consumers Union. On November 15, 1999, Media Access Project filed reply comments with the FCC in the low power radio proceeding on behalf of its clients:the United Church of Christ, Office of Communication, Inc.; National Council of the Churches of Christ, Communication Commission; General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church; Department for Communication of the Egangelical Lutheran Church in America; Civil Rights Forum; Libraries for the Future; and Consumers Union. MAP included a technical study in its reply comments. The technical study, prepared by Dr. Ted Rappaport of Virginia Tech, shows that low power radio will not cause unacceptable levels of interference to existing FM broadcast stations, contrary to the claims of low power radio opponents. On March 16, 2000, Media Access Project filed a Petition for Reconsideration at the FCC. Available in PDF format (50KB).
On April 24, 2000, Media Access Project filed an Opposition to Petitions for Reconsideration filed by other parties. MAP asserted that the low power radio service should move forward, and should retain most of its ownership limits. Available in PDF format (31KB).
On Febuary 16, 2000 the National Association of Broadcasters filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals questioning the legality of the FCC's low power radio proceeding. MAP intervened on behalf of the following clients: United Church of Christ, Office of Communications; National Council of the Churches of Christ, Communications Commission; General Board of Global Minestries of the Untied Methodist Church; Department for Communication of the Evangelicial Lutheran Church of America; and Libraries for the Future . On September 29, 2000, MAP filed the following brief in support of the FCC's decision. Oral argument will be heard November 28, 2000 before Circuit Court Judges Henderson, Rogers and Tatel.
